House Tororó

This house is located in the Tororó neighborhood, on the banks of the DF-140 highway and east of Lake Paranoá. Situated on a steep site with dense shrubbery, the house is elevated to the horizon level, engaging in dialogue with the vast landscape of the Cerrado, extending far beyond the lot’s boundaries. The structure rests lightly on the terrain, shading the plaza below and creating an entry platform for residents.

Access to the house is through a concrete volume at the plaza level, where a staircase leads to the upper floor. At over 5.5 meters in height, the living and dining room, kitchen, service area, bedrooms, social bathroom, and master suite are arranged sequentially. Adjacent to the main house, another concrete volume houses the sauna, workshop, storage area, and swimming pool, forming a belvedere on the elevated plaza, accessible through the corridor connecting the rooms.

The house’s structure consists of a pair of 3.25-meter-high metal trusses supported, on the higher side, by two V-shaped pillars and, on the side closer to the ground, by small reinforced concrete columns, appearing to gently rest on the topography. Wooden slats provide shading and mediate the relationship between the interior and exterior spaces. The corten steel structure, combined with the wooden slats and cabinetry, establishes a visual dialogue with the surrounding Cerrado, integrating the project harmoniously with the landscape.
