House Mirella
Situated on a corner lot in a gated community in Lago Sul, Brasília, this residence is organized around a concrete plane elevated above the terrain. This element functions simultaneously as a roof for the ground floor and as a spacious terrace for the upper level.
On the ground floor, the spatial arrangement balances open and enclosed areas. On one side, an exhibition-style garage and leisure space seamlessly connect to the deck and swimming pool, uncovered within the recess of the upper plane’s geometry. On the other side, service areas frame an internal garden, opening up the space between courtyards to house the living room, dining area, and kitchen. The design plays with the site’s topography, alternating between retaining walls, slopes, elevated surfaces, and excavated ground levels.
The upper floor, which contains the suites and TV room, is structured by two exposed concrete walls rising above the plane and six concrete pillars spanning 8-meter gaps. This configuration establishes a strong volumetric relationship with the horizontal plane while ensuring privacy for the intimate spaces. Additionally, it allows for the use of the upper plane as two distinct open-air terraces—one connected to the leisure areas and the other providing exclusive access to the private suites.
