ANDIFES
The expansion of the headquarters of the National Association of Directors of Federal Higher Education Institutions (ANDIFES) represents a significant milestone for the institution, creating a new space for dialogue between representatives of federal universities and society. Located in Brasília-DF, the project occupies an entire floor of the Denasa Building, designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1972 and situated in the Setor Comercial Sul.
The project organizes the space into three main areas, separated by service cores that concentrate and conceal all infrastructure, such as air conditioning, exhaust systems, electrical, sewage, and plumbing. Upon entering the floor, visitors encounter the reception and foyer, separated by a custom-built unit with an embedded frame that regulates access flow and, when opened, integrates both spaces, creating a sense of continuity. The auditorium, with a capacity for 120 people, serves as the main space of the new headquarters, offering comfort for the institution’s plenary sessions. The lounge area, integrated with individual and collective meeting rooms, is located closest to the façade overlooking the Esplanada dos Ministérios. It is designed to provide visual permeability, even with compartmentalized meeting spaces, while allowing natural light to enter, enhancing the perception of the space.
Within the service axes are located the technical areas, restrooms, pantries, luggage room, and individual workspace, organized along a 2.70-meter-wide axis that spans the length of the floor, from façade to façade. Natural veneer panels define the larger spaces and conceal the ceiling level differences that accommodate the necessary infrastructure throughout the floor. Except for the elevator landing level, the entire floor features a raised flooring system covered with removable carpet, which conceals the routing of electrical and data installations.
