Palma House

Located near the Plano Piloto, in an area predominantly occupied by single-family homes in the Lago Norte neighborhood, this house utilizes its internal courtyards as a key design element to occupy the 785 sqm plot.

The layout is based on a single volume that connects with the south boundary wall of the plot, respecting the 2.85m setback from the north side and creating an auxiliary entrance for services and pedestrians on the latter side.

This volume uses the voids of the internal courtyards not only to assist with air circulation and light entry into the spaces but also to separate the more private areas from the public ones. One of these courtyards, measuring 25m², separates the garage from the bedroom area, while the other, measuring 20m², separates the service area from the living room and kitchen.

A central circulation axis runs through the entire project, connecting the main entrance to the backyard.

This axis links all the spaces, guiding the programmatic layout of the house.

The reinforced concrete structure, with exposed slabs and beams that create pergolas in certain areas, interacts with the ceramic cladding, which is present on both the walls and the floors of the courtyard and veranda. A vertical cobogó, with the same ceramic cladding, separates the courtyard from the kitchen on the ground floor and houses the water tanks and boiler above. In almost the entire project, bronze-colored aluminum frames maintain the earthy character of this material combination.
